This is a self-limiting heat cable - This cable heater can travel along (wraps around) the water supply from below the surface of the slab your fountain is bolted down on, all the way up to the float valve assembly. It will keep the water supply line from freezing - this also known as a "sef regulating heat tape" in the plumbing world. A good seal between the fountain and the slab is also essential to preventing freezups. NOTE: this heater could also be used on just about any fountain where power was available. It is its own thermostat.
